Our fourteen year old dalmatian is experiencing incontinence. He poops all over the place 2-4 times daily and sometimes urinates, too. Our vet determined that it's a neurological issue and not muscular. He said it happens sometimes when they get older--their brain stops registering certain things. We just don't know how to handle this problem. He's been a wonderful dog, and I feel like lately he and we are miserable over this issue. We need some advice on possible solutions or coping. Thank you!

Well if he is otherwise healthy and you want to keep him but the mess is bothering you consider using a diaper or adult incontinence panty. Just cut a tail hole in the garment and when he is inside put one on him.
You will have to make sure he is kept clean but if you want to keep your old friend with you that might be a choice to keep the house clean.
Hope this helps you!
