I have a jack russel terrier about 2 years old. I treated him for fleas. I shampooed him and now he keeps scatching even more. I wonder what I can do to help him. His skin is getting red from all his scratching. Is there an over the counter treatment I can get him? Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Optional Information:
Age: 2; Male; Breed: jack russell terrier

Already Tried:
I have bathed him for fleas in different kinds of flea and tick shampoo, even one in oatmeal.

Yes, I did see some fleas, that is why I bathed him, both of our dogs. MY other dog is fine, but my Jack Russell keeps scratching, like I said. I did use spray in my house for fleas. Do I need to bomb it or what. When I bathed him last nite, He only had a couple fleas on him. He is white so they are easy to spot. I put a jacket on him so he can't scratch his back all up.. He is losing alot of his hair...

What does the 1mg of Benadryl per pound mean. Does that mean if the dog weighs 15 pounds. You give the dog 15 milligrams of the meds or what.

Yes. That's what it means. If he is 15 lbs, a normal dose is 15 mg. You can actually go up a little so if he is scratching a lot, you can give him 1 25 mg tablet every 8-12 hours and feel safe about it.
