my 3-5 year old iguana has huge swelling close to where I believe his rectum is.

It is shaped likea trianlgewith the smaller end towards his tail.

I was out of town for 2 weeks and had a neighbor feed him. I know she cut the food too large.

Optional Information: Age: 3; Male; Breed: green iguanaAlready Tried: making area moist with water. he bites so I have not picked him up much. He did let me pick hiim up for a brief period and seems to be in some pain.

He sounds as though he may either be impacted with stool or its an abscess brewing. I would try soaking him in warm water for an hour a couple times a day ...depending on his size, big enough that half his body width fits and 2/3 of the length....making sure he's in a warm area with a heat lamp afterward and see if that helps...if he doesn't pass stool in a couple days a vet visit is needed but soaking usually will do the trick...

Thanks and I'll try that. I'll need a pair of Welder's gloves to hold him but.....

Thanks again,

James
