my female is pregnant and, I thought, not ready to deliver ...

my female is pregnant and, I thought, not ready to deliver yet. However, she has been whining, restless, etc for two days now and seems just generally uncomfortable. I took her to the vet who said she was just depressed. Could she be depressed or is it more likely she is in labor? how long should I let her go before acting?
