when to euthanize

spike is 10 years old -- has been on steroids since 6 months due to several allergies. He has been blind for about 6 months and the vet has referred me to an animal opthamologist due to possible glaucoma. spike needs help getting out of bed and down the stairs to the living area of the house (not a problem). He goes for brief walks with me and doesn't appear in any pain at this time. He sleeps 23+ hours a day.

Help please.
