My Min.Schnauzer is itching to death. I can't get him into the vets till Mon., they told me to give him Benedryl, and I've given him 1 minitablet, 25mg. 3 times since this morning, but it doesn't seem to be doing any good. Can I give him a stronger dose? If not, what else can I do for him to relieve his itching?

My vet recommends using up to 2 mg per lb of dog given every 8-12 hours as needed.

Most dogs that are itching this bad need a shot of prednisone to help control the itch and give the skin time to heal.

Be sure and see your vet about this as soon as you can.
