yelping

My malamute for 2 wks has been having pain? She cries when she wakes up and appears to be stiff in the mornings. She doesnt want to put her head down on the floor like her neck hurts. It seems to come and go, one minute she is holding herself very stiff, then she may chase her tail? The vet had her on pain pills which seemed to help then took her off those and put her on prednisone which doesnt seem to be helping. She continues to eat, drink, urinate and defecate. Acts like something in her neck or shoulder area is pinching?

Your dog may have a pinched nerve in the neck or a disc problem in the spine. You may want to have an x-ray done to determine where the problem is.
Often steroids are used for helping to resolve this but if that doesn't work surgery may be an option. You can read about steroid use here

and disc disease here

I think you need further testing to find out just what is wrong so you can best get it treated.
Hope this helps you!
