Vertigo

Sent to Pet Experts June 29 04:25 PM

My 14-year old dog was diagnosed w/ possible vertigo a few weeks ago. The vet didn't do any tests b/c she said there was nothing to do short of an MRI, but diagnosed her condition based on sudden symtoms of imbalance, that would lead my dog to fall down or veer-off in one direction while walking. The symtoms arrived very suddenly, almost overnight. The vet said that the vertigo may have been brought on by a stroke. Since then, my do had one more serious relapse of the symtoms that lasted about two days. She still seems to have a little imbalance, but it has subsided significantly. Now, she just seems to be acting differenly psychologically. I'm wondering if this sounds like a stroke? Is there anything I can do? The vet said there was really no medication to give her if indeed she did have a stroke that brought on vertigo - and the only way to really tell if this happened would be an MRI, which sounded like it wasn't really something that she would recommend. Thoughts?
