Sent to Pet Experts June 10 01:41 PM

2 year old chihuahua passing blood in stool. Stool loose and very dark. Hasn't been injured or eaten anything sharp to my knowledge. Any idea what would cause this?

Blood in the stool could mean that the dog has an upset stomach or some other intestinal problem.

The most common cause is a parasite problem.

If you have not yet seen the vet for a fecal exam, you may want to do so to rule out parasites, coccidia and giardia.
