Hello: On Oct. 29, 2007, my 14-year-old male Yorkshire terrier, a 5-pount neutered dog, was diagnosed with lung cancer after developing pneumonia. Three vets -- including an oncologist -- gave him eight weeks to live. Surgery was too risky because the tumor was the size of a golf ball. I have been feeding him a raw diet prescribed by a holistic nutritionist, and he has been doing very well, until late last week. His cough has gotten much worse, although his appetite still is great, he runs around, barks, rolls on the rugs and seems still to feel really good. I am wondering if I should take him back to the vet, perhaps for cough medicine. My vet suggested it some time ago, when the coughing wasn''t as frequent, but warned that it would make my beloved Rip sleepy (I assume it would have opiates in it). Suggestions? I''d rather not put him on prednisone. Stewart Warren
