Question

female persian keeps vomitting

Sent to Pet Experts May 16, 2005 12:23 a.m.

I have a persian female cat that is 1 1/2 years old and she keeps getting sick. She doesnt appear to be ill. We thought at first it was due to being upset but it seems she keeps throwing up more frequently. There is no hair in the vomit and it appears to be partially digested.

This could be a simple case of reflux.  You should see the vet tomorrow to find out for sure.  If this is the case, your vet can prescribe an antacid that will help a great deal.

Until then, you can use a dose of hairball remedy right before meals.  This coats the throat and helps with acid build up.

You will also want to feed the cat several small meals a day and see if it helps.  Jarred baby food works well and is mild.  Chicken/rice, lamb/rice, etc are all great choices.  Just be sure that they do not contain onions or garlic.

Let me know if you still have questions.
