Question

spaying paying with liver problems

Sent to Pet Experts January 02, 2005 1:41 p.m.

our 8 month old kitten needs spayed. She is in heat for the second time. We have taken her before she was in heat but her liver enzymes were slightly elevated and they did not feel comfortable. We took her to the vet while she was in heat and her enzymes were more elevated. They did not want to fix her under these circumstances. She wasb tested for shunts and does not have them. We have been prescribed anti-oxyidents and we are currently giving them to her. She is now in heat again. We understand that she is now at a higher risk for cancers. We don’t know what to do. What are the risks of spaying her with potential liver problems? We also got an x-ray and it showed that the liver was smaller.
