I have a summer home upstate New York. We went up about a month ago and found pockets of what appeared to be some kind of feces left by some type of animal. Can you help me with identification. The feces was found under a couch cushion, under a dog beed, in a pocket of my mattress cover, etc. It is very small - like a poppy seed on a hamburger bun.snd brownish red in color. It is very hard and cannot be broken by just sqeezing it - I can break it with a finger nail and there is a white substance inside. We cleaned up, put some moth balls in those locations and 4 weeks later went back up - we found a few more presents.
We do not know if it some type of rodent, chipmunk or snake type animal.   Thanks
