I have over 50 rabbits. I am having a very serious problem with the rabbits. The first symptom is that they are unable to lift their head nor do not have any type of control on the movement of their head. After one or two days they die. Can you please tell me if there is any type of illness associated with these symptoms?

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having this problem. There are several diseases associated with the symptoms you described. One, is a protozoen called E. cuniculi . This can cause paralysis and death in rabbits. As per the "House Rabbit Society" it is one of the most common and (at the same time) least recognized of diseases that affect rabbits. You can read more about it here http://www.rabbit.org/journal/3-2/e-cuniculi.html Another possiblity is exposure to a poisionious substance. The symptoms they are showing sound neurological. If anything has changed in their environment (bug sprays, new food, etc) this should also be considered as a possibility. You may want to have your vet preform a necropsy on one of them to see if they can find the exact cause. If you have any other questions, let me know. -Robyn
