We have 12 hamsters in 9 cages and a rabbit in a room that is less than 100 sq ft. For the third time in as many months my wife has bronchitis. Is it possible that the droppings from the critters could be contributing to this issue?

Dear friend,

If you are using pine or cedar bedding either of these could cause allergies and bronchitis a well. However, the most likely cause of your wifes illness is the amoniated urine that these pets give off. It is extremely dangerous for your wife to breathe this and can be very hazardous to her health.

Make sure you have very adequate ventilation and use a paper based bedding like care fresh.Urine must be removed and discarded every day.

Please let me know if you have any more questions or would like to discuss this more. I will be happy to help in any way possible.

Very sincerely,

Terri
