my 4 mth old male dwarf rabbit was neutered today they left it open hes constantly licking at it what do i do id hate for him to get an infection or bacteria?

Hi Jacy,

It's fine for your rabbit to be licking his incision. Most rabbits do; the only problem will be if he chews on his stitches. If your vet used subcuticular stitches he won't be able to get at them.

You should check the area twice a day to make sure your bunny hasn't chewed his stiches, and to make sure there aren't any signs of infection such as redness and swelling. Otherwise, just make sure he's eating and drinking well, and he should do fine.
