Question

about rabbit care and bad habits and weird behavior

Sent to Pet Experts March 01, 2006 5:52 p.m.

My rabbit used to live in all wire bottom cage, then developed a swelled paw and then we noticed had huge sore on its leg just above the paw, we treated the rabbit with proxide and antibotic ointment for week then when we quit we noticed he was chewing himself as if to chew his leg off really gross , what is cause and what can be done , besides what have, unable to afford to take to veterians only talk on phone etc with them or rabbit breeders or supply stores we have placed him in glass aquarium when all our fish died(no wire bottom)need to get rid of some cause when we got new companion for our rabbit cause his other pal died we were told both were male then kept separate for 6months then finally gradually put together then 3 months later quite by accident saw babies crawling on floor, one day after kids came home from school we are finding keeping 3 cages clean hard work for disabled people, one cage for 3 males, 1 cage for 3 females orig hutch got as free gift and glass aquarium with crippled up rabbit. so we had have netherland dwarf male, dutch mini female and had five babies and had 2nd litter didnt survived i guess was too cold day when born, also curious why if stick rabbits of same gender in a cage they try to honeymoon with each other dont they know not female, once a rabbit gender is known can it change from one gender to another cause my rabbits act really weird when stick more then one is cage together even if same gender, does it whether female or male cages, we only wanted 2 rabbits now have 7.like to get rid of 4, kid attached to two of them, actually 2kids two separate rabbits.
