Question

yo border collaussie mix is just getting over her first

Sent to Pet Experts January 06, 2006 1:56 a.m.

15 yo border coll/aussie mix is just getting over her first(?) ear infection, and I'm noticing a bunch of raised, pinky-nail sized dry/scabbed-like patches on her. I found the first one on the back of her neck 2 days ago, and as I cleaned it, all the hair came out of it quite easily. yesterday, I noticed scab-like growths beginning around her eyes. Tonight I noticed another dry patch (same size) on her belly. We live in Boulder, CO and it is quite dry here. I've been adding cod liver and flax seed oils to her meals for the last 2 weeks, usually feed her 1/2 Iams weight control kibble, 1/2 wet food. Also taking PPA, Estrogen, Rimadyl and a Chondroitin formula.

There are also 2 cats in the house, FWIW. As a side note, she has been going crazy on a lick granuloma on her front leg for about 2+/- weeks. Insatiable, but she's had that problem before, with different spots on her front legs. She licks the carpet a lot too. I can't figure that one out.

Please help! I can't afford to take her to the vet many more times!
cheers,
chris
