Question

Carpal bone

Sent to Pet Experts March 31, 2005 1:13 p.m.

I am interested in adopting a Dobie from Doberman Rescue of the Triad in NC. Her RF food turns under and Preliminary radiographis have been done and it has been determined that this Dobe has actual carpal bones in her wrist that are missing. She’s probably been that way since birth, can anything be done for this little girl?

You would need to seek the advice of an orthopedic specialist, but I would think they could fuse the joint.  It would make it stiff, but would decrease pain from constant stress...but again you need to contact a specialist.  You may want to request that the rescue group send the rads to Dr.Betts in Cary...he will review and give an opinion for about $40.
