feline illness and can it be transmitted to children

what causes a feline to vomit after eating? are there any illnesses that could be transmitted to children? after our cat vomited in my son's bed one night, my son has been vomiting at night on a reguler basis and has no common flu signs except the vomiting and by morning he is better. Is this somting he could of caught from our cat and should I be concerned?
