Question

Odd Behavior

Sent to Pet Experts January 25, 2005 9:58 p.m.

We have a 6 mo old kitten who has suddenly started "crying". She has been doing this for about 11 hours. We haven’t noticed any elimination problems as she is still using the litter box. She does, however, seem to have problems lying down. Inside cat only. No obvious injuries. Eating well.

Is she spayed?  If not, I would bet she is going into heat.  You may see signs of vaginal discharge, odor or bleeding.  Her behavior may also change - usually getting more affectionate.

If she is spayed, let us know so we can determine what other causes could be happening.

Sorry it took so long to get back. This lasted for a total of 8 days and drove us and our other cat crazy. I have made an appointment to have her spayed.

Thanks for your answer.
