Sent to Pet Experts January 24, 2005 5:48 p.m.

my cat is feline aids and leukemia postive...his left eye dialates completely while the right eye constricts down to almost nothing at least once every 4-5 weeks ..I know this is common in Leukemia pos. cats. What causes that in leukemia pos. pts? Can I do something to help him have less episodes .He gets liq vitamins every day(1 cc)his rbc is steady at 4 when he is not ill and he has had only 1 crisis in the past 8mo and that was a small infection not his eyes.
Thanks

Does he act differently during these episodes? Meaning other then what you see, does he respond differently?

Definitely...I can tell he is in pain...he cries and vocalizes more... the eyes tear heavily(both) and he usually finds a dark place to sleep(makes sense) he also has increased episodes of vomiting...after this he will still have an appetite and want food but it doesnt stay down(he is on science diet c/d)...I give him beef or chicken baby food(any where between a third of a jar to half and that stays down) to help him keep his weight up b/c he can lose up to a half pound after an all day session like this.
Thanks for your insight into this...I know he is unusual because of his dbl pos status but he is relatively healthy otherwise..15.8 -16 lbs is his fighting wt.
