pancreatitis and consistant coughing

My sons 13 year Chinese pug as been diognesed with acute pancreatitis he has spent a lot of caring time and money, now with no cure found he just wants to make him comfortable as possible. That was a week ago starting two days ago Bandit has started coughing/whizzing with without much rest day or night. My questions to you is the coughing just another sympton of the pancreatitis and he has entered into another stage? Or is there anything he can give him to easy his coughing (meds or herbs)?

 What tests have been done? Bloodwork and x-rays? If so what were the results if you know
