Question

Daschund with a problem

Sent to Pet Experts January 10, 2005 8:48 a.m.

Male Daschund(2 hrs old) wakes in early morning hours often and vomits (yellowish). Pepto Bismal helps and no human food helps. Doesn't get table scraps, just bits now and then. Could it be the bits of food? He eats Eukanuba lamb dry food regularly. Should I try another food. Has had all shots etc. bought from breeder at 6 wks. Otherwise, he eats good, has no temp and is playful.

Usually it is from an elevated morning acids in the stomach. You can see if feeding him later at night helps...or you can try using Tagamet 1/4 tablet at night to help lower the acid levels in the tummy. Pepto is coating, but that really isn't the problem.
