pet flu

my boston terrier, since last night just wants to lay around. could he have the flu? no vomiting, he went out to poop during the nite, and some liquid came out. his nose is warm. he got into a pack of gum yesterday

NO, not the flu. I would say if he is not alert and going this morning...I would take him to a vet. Gum quantitiy is a concern as well as the wrapper.
A rectal temp of between 100-102 if normal so if you have the ability take his temp.

Well with no fever..you are left watching clinical signs. I would not offer regular food, maybe something bland like rice and chicken broth.
But, I would call your vet, some have regular Saturday morning hours and then after those hours everything goes to an emergency clinic where the $$ is high. If you can, just have someone look at the dog this morning.
