Why does she keep bleeding?
Sent to Pet Experts October 17 12:55 PM

My 10 year old toy poodle has a continual bleeding problem. EVen though she was spayed a couple years ago. It's as though she is in heat. She seems to feel fine. She runs and plays and eats well. She has had all kinds of tests done and no one can tell me what's wrong. One specialist sent a vaginal specimen off for analysis and the results were that it was a blood clot. Any ideas?

This might be a stump pyometra where there is an infection of the remaining bit of uterus left after the spay. Its not common but can happen.
It may also be that some ovarian tissue was left behind if this happens only when her heat cycle would normally happen. Just a little tissue from the ovary can lead to a heat from hormone changes.
You may want to have her tested for von Willebrand's disease which is an inherited bleeding disorder.
Hope this helps you!
