We have a five year-old bunny who has been in excellent health throughout her life, but is starting to age. Today, we noticed large chunks of fur on both hind-quarters that she seems to be pulling out. There doesn't seem to be any sign of fly-strike, or any other "creature" that has bothered her, so we're trying to figure out if she needs to be seen by the vet. She has a daily diet of greens (romaine, spinach, broccolli or parsley), carrots, limited pellets, and timothy hay. She has been spayed, so I don't imagine she's trying to "nest". She has done this before in much lesser quantities, but only when she's bored and frustrated with being couped up. We usually let her out to hop about every three days. Temperatures have been in the mid 80's here, but there has been a breeze. (We usually bring her in when it reaches 86 degrees or so.) Can you shed any light on what the problem might be?
Thanks, Christina
