Our female bearded dragon laid her first clutch of eggs a little over a week ago. While we did not purchase an incubator, we did place the 4 eggs in a container with a mixture of potting soil and perlelite, moistened it well and provide round the clock heat from a low wattage lamp, keeping the temp between 82 and 88 degrees. Just today, the eggs began to shrivel. Reading up on this, I am now suspecting that there has been a lack of moisture for the eggs. However, I have mositened the substance considerably and read on the WEB that eggs can still hatch if the shriveling is remedied with mositure. Is our make-shift incubator a joke? Do the eggs have a chance? Our male dragon is beginning to "court" our female again, so maybe we can get all of this figured out before the next clutch is laid. Thanks so much!
