I have a male Australian Shephard. He is almost 4 years old. He was laying on his back yesterday and I noticed a symmetrical lump at the base of his penis. It looks as though it could be a testicle but both of his testes appear to be in the scrotum. He is not nuetered. What could this be and should I be concerned?

It sounds like you are describing the bulbus glandis. It's a perfectly normal part of the anatomy. When the dog is aroused, two glands swell at the base of the penis. In breeding, these glands help to maintain the "tie" between the male and female.

I would not be worried.
