I have 2 male mice. Recently one of my mice developed a patch of missing hair with a small red area just above his left rear leg. It looks as though the patch is getting bigger. The mice fight sometimes, but it mostly looks like rolling and wrestling and there is very little squealing as if one of them is in pain. I looked on the web and it suggested that maybe they had mites, but the marks are only on one mouse. Could it be an allergy to something in the cage?

What kind of bedding are you using? I have had mice, in particular, develope and allergy to the bedding that they were on.
I my case this allergy did result in a lose of hair.
If you are using a wood based bedding, you might be better to switch to a corn cob or paper based bedding instead.

This is my first thought, with an abscess as a result of the fighting being second.
