I have a 10yr. old persian who will not poop in litterbox ...

I have a 10yr. old persian who will not poop in litterbox that is in laundry room.He pee's in it. Anyway I locked him up in bathroom where the other box is & he pooped in it. Why would he use that one when I lock him up & also how long do I keep him locked up?

No. They are both the same. Ieven took the top off the one in laundry room & it didn't seem to matter.
