My budgie's claw is swollen on the back of his left foot. It looks pink and painful. Is this and infection or injury and what can i do?

Is the skin broken anywhere? Is there or has there been any bleeding? Is he still perching as normal? Does he share a cage with any other birds? This information and any thing additional you can think of to add will help me to give you my best possible advice. Thanks, Patricia
