my chihuahua acts like his ears are bothering him. he has done it before but it goes away.

It will happen all of a sudden I will throw a toy for him and when he starts to run after it he stops and shakes his head really hard and will scratch a little a his ear with his paw.

what could it be?

Hi there! Have you noticed any smells around his ears? Do they appear have any debris around them? Does he have any other sighs of illness?
