Question

My 7 year old Yorkshire (male) has a Lipase value of 3.

Sent to Pet Experts January 18, 2006 10:43 a.m.

My 7 year old Yorkshire (male) has a Lipase value of 3. His Amylase is 644. What could be the cause of this elevated Lipase levels? It is not acute pancreatitis since the Amylase level is ok, right?
Coincidently, I have been diagnosed with an elevated Lipase for the past 3 years. My doctor could not find a cause. Can this be related to some previous unespecific cause? My pancreas is normal and all the other pancratic enzymes and functions are normal.
Is it possible that a "viral" infection caused mutation on my dog's lipase-producing cells as well as myself?
Thanks for your time:
