Question

my chihuahua seems to be growing increasingly angry and he

Sent to Pet Experts January 10, 2006 9:29 p.m.

MY CHIHUAHUA SEEMS TO BE GROWING INCREASINGLY ANGRY. AND HE SEEMS TO BE A LOT MORE INTERESTED IN A FEMALE GOLDEN RETRIEVER DOG. HE IS NOT NEUTERED. HE IS ABOUT 2 YEARS OLD. HE GROWLS AND SNAPS AT ME WITHOUT REASON... EVEN WHEN I LOOK AT HIM OR SHOW AFFECTION. SOMETIMES I AM ANGRY WITH HIM, AND I CANT HOLD BACK MY TEMPER. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO MAKE THIS BEHAVIOR STOP BEFORE HE TRIES TO PURPOSLY HURT ME. GET BACK TO ME SOON. THANK YOU

It is a male chihuahua. It is only one person that he really shows aggression towards, and that is me. I cant put a time table on when exactly he started doing this or a specific time. He is fine with my boyfriend. It is our dog since he was four months and it has only been recently since he started doing this. He lives at my boyfriends house. Is it a possibilities that he's angry because he is unsatisfied sexually. As he is growingly intent on being around my boyfriends much larger golden retriever all of the time. He humps her all the time and when taken away from her he whines uncontrollably. He wont stop for a long time. Please help.

What exactly do you mean about proper place in the pack? In your experience has this happened frequently with smaller chihuahua dogs. And has neutering had a significant effect.

do you think it should be all of the people in the pack to do this or just me... at first? because it seems he doesnt have a problem with anyone else at all! Because he lives at my boyfriends house I really dont see him as much as everyone else. Should I take him and try to do these things one on one in my home where I can strictly monitor him? My boyfriend suggested that we spend more time together so that he could get closer to me again, and to be more disciplinary with him.

It sounds like he sees himself as being below everyone BUT you. If you see him less than everyone else, there is a good chance that is the root of the issue.

I would suggest that you YOU start some training with him and that YOU let him know that you are in charge. The "nothing in life is free" method that I mentioned above will help a great deal.
