My senior (8 yrs. old ) jack russell terrrier just ate his dinner. Right after eating he ran outside and starting licking the cement stairs and surrounding area. It looked like he was licking up dirt or cobwebs.
This is very unusual and I have never seen him do this before.

Most dogs will lick like this because they feel like they want to vomit. This might be because he ate too much or because he ate too fast.

I would keep a close eye on him and be sure that he is passing his bowels ok and that he doesn't start to vomit.
