Question

Aging female cocker/menopause?

Sent to Pet Experts September 11, 2005 1:20 a.m.

I have a 6 1/2 yr old female cocker (pure bred). She's my first female. Do they go thru menopause? Do they have hormone issues? She has had a problem with bladder leakage. Spotting. No fever, no excessive thirst, etc. She's fine, but for about 3-4 days I would find wet spots where she was sitting or laying. It has now stopped. Can you give me some info on females? (smile) Thank you for your advice. I had a male cocker for 14 yrs that was interbred (which I found out later). He was sick from day one and spent about 10-11,000 in medical care for him. He was a very good dog. Now I have a very healthy female. God has blessed me with her. Her name is Lexee. Thanks, Joany
