Question

skin problems in 7 yo female dalmation

Sent to Pet Experts July 17, 2005 1:10 p.m.

I have a 7 year old female dalmation, her coat is patchy, skin pinkish, she doesn't seem to be in any discomfort, no unusual itching. She is confined to a kennel with a 3 year old female jack russell, the jack has no signs of contamination. She's had this problem for several months.

Lose of fur that does not grow back can be an indication of a thyroid problem.    I would recommend a complete THYROID PANEL done to determine this possibility.

There are other signs of hypothyroidism, such as lethargy, sebborhea (skin infections) weight gain.

Is she experiences any of these symptoms? Any other symptoms?
