pit bull problem
Sent to Pet Experts February 02 11:20 PM

I have a 9 year old Pit bull. For the past 6 months he has had "shakes" in the upper part of his abdomen. These shakes lsst for hours and he is sometimes difficult to arouse. He has been seen by 9 doctors. He was last seen by a neurologist. He had a spinal tap, an emg, a muscle biopsy and numerous x-rays of his head chest and abdomen. He has had a biopsy of his colon, ultrasound of his liver. He has been worked up for Myasthenia, lyme disease and hypoparathyroidism. The neurologist did not feel that he was haveing seizures. The internist did not feel that he had lyme disease. He lays around the house most of the day but does not seem to be in any pain. We have contacted all of the doctors several times and they have not been able to give us any direction. Could you please give me some guidance on where we could take him. Thank you, Sheldon Levine

I suggest that you give a call to the Illinois school of veterinary medicine.  You can find their contact information here:

http://www.cvm.uiuc.edu/vth/

They have a teaching hospital and specialists on staff that can deal with multitudes of problems.

If they can't figure out what's wrong, I don't know anyone who can.

I hope this has helped!

Reply to Tammy Falkner's Post: I was certainly aware of the University of Illinois Veterinary school. I contacted them and they said that the dog would have to be there for several days and my wife was afraid to leave him alone at the university. He has been through so much testing. I was hoping that you could give me a better answer than to take him to the veterinaly school. Please answer me.

Thank you
