eye injury/infection
Sent to Pet Experts October 02 09:56 PM

I have a 7 month old kitten, and last night i noticed she was having trouble opening her right eye... it was half way closed, and it seemed pretty red. Today her eye is open, but it looks cloudy compared to the other one, and is still somewhat red. Prior to her having trouble ith her eye, my boyfriend and I were washing her tail w/some medicated shampoo given by the vet. (The type of shampoo is GlenHaven F1/S shampoo) I'm thinking that somehow some of the soapy water had splashed into her eye, since she seemed fine before hand. Should we take her to the vet, or is there anything we can do at home to help her? Is there any risk of permanent eye damage if it was the shampoo? Does this sound like any type of infection possibly? and if so, what kind of action should we take?

Dear friend,

For today, apply a damp teabag to her eye a few times and see if she gets relief as that shoud neutalize any acid of alakline. If it does not look better tomorrow have the vet see it. It is unlikely yor vet would have you use a shampoo that could injure your baby's eye but it is better to err on the side of caution when it come to eye issues. If you have any open pet supplies call and see if they have terramycin eye ointment.

Please let me know if you have any more questions. I will be happy to help.

It is nice to hear from you again. I hope you and your family are well.

Warmest best wishes,

Terri
