I have a 3 month old all white russian dwarf hamster that has been acting odd lately. He has become quite agressive (no children around him only 2 adults). I used to be able to reach in and pet him or pick him up and he would nibble or bite gently but now when I reach in his cage, he is in attack mode and has drawn blood several times. Other behavior I have noticed is that when he sleeps, his legs are constantly moving and this morning he actually had his back foot in his mouth chewing on it! This evening he got on his wheel and rolled onto his back and started to swing his feet around. He just seems quite hyper and is not at all the friendly, lovable critter that I thought he would be. Is this typical behavior for this specific breed? I have a dalmation hamster that is quite lovable and can be handled. They are kept in separate cages and have had no contact.
