Reptiles need a lot of special considerations to remain healthy in captivity.
These include:
1) Proper heat and lighting
2) Proper cleaning of enclosure
3) Proper diet
Twitching of the legs can often mean that a reptile has a condition known as Metabolic Bone Disease--this is caused by a diet that is deficient in calcium, and improper lighting. It can be fatal if not corrected quickly.
Please make sure that your pet is being kept in a clean tank that is properly lighted (UVB bulb--changed every 6 months to be sure that the beam remains potent).
Foods rich in calcium, such as dark romaine lettuce, should be increased in his daily offerings.
