liver damage

Sent to Pet Experts August 27 12:15 AM

We had a one and a half year old pit bull that died from liver failure. She began looking sad and depressed and you could tell that she wasn't feeling well at all. She was feverish and we took her to a near by emergency pet hospital. At first the vet said she had hepatitis even though she had been vacinated. She wouldn't eat. They put her through blood work and started her on vitamin k and plasma. Within 2 days she was very ill and we had to make a choice to put her to sleep or continue with the plasma and see if she would pull through. The vet bill was already up to 3000.00 and she was so sick. We made that very difficult choice. An autopsy was done and we were told that the only organ that was damaged was her liver and nothing else. We still have no answers almost a year later. Do you have any idea what might have caused her liver to fail?
