We aquired an adult cockatiel who shows no interest in play or toys (only earrings while on our shoulders). He does a lot of pacing and wants to be held most of the time. Can I somehow make time in his cage more enjoyable for him?

Optional Information:
Male; Breed: cockatiel

Already Tried:
mirrors, bells, colorful toys

Reply to Patricia's Post: I do not know anything for sure. He came to us from a friend who had him for a few months. She has two parrots but found herself allergic to this bird. Prior to that he belonged to an elderly woman who could no longer care for him. My friend (long time bird owner) told us that he was a picky eater and did not seem to like any toys. We have found this to be true. He will eat only millet, cereal, crackers, apple-from our fingers. He scatters/dumps any other type of seed we have tried. He has taken to being rubbed on the head sinse coming to us. He loves to repeat whistles and go outside on our shoulders.
