Olga, $250 sounds steep. I would advise you search around for different veterinarians who do rodent surgeries, as one has got to be cheaper than that. The one here only charges about $120 for tumor removal on my hamster.

However, other places you can look are any local rodent rescues, who sometimes give coupons to get surgical procedures done for a smaller cost.

Another possibility is the veterinarian school of the local university, like UL or Florida State. Sometimes they perform procedures for a fraction of what a typical veterinarian charges.

Here are some places that you can give a call to, that do rodents and may do them at a smaller cost:

Discount Pet Clinic
6902 Stirling Rd
Davie, FL 33314
Phone: (954) 989-9879

Here is one that does major surgeries on all small animals and rodents:

Oakland Park Animal Hospital
2200 W Oakland Park Blvd
Oakland Park, FL 33311
Phone: (954) 731-4228

The Humane Society Of Broward County says that they do veterinarian procedures on small animals. This would be a good place to contact, as they would most likely be much cheaper than a standard veterinarian.

Their number is (954) 463-7729

If you are unable to find anywhere to do it at a smaller price, here is an organization that will help pay for the medical bills, enabling you do get the proper care that your small animal needs.

Hope this helps!
