post partum golden- low milk
Sent to Pet Experts June 18 02:03 AM

My golden had 9 pups on tuesday 6/13th. All seem to be heathy, but the runt is very small. So small that i had to bottle feed him the first 2 days. Now he is taking to the teat. Good news right? Well now my golden is not eating as much as she should be and her milk supply is weak. I have encouraged her to eat her favorite goodies, meat hotdogs etc but her milk is still low. The other eight are so much bigger then the little runt, i think they will be okay although they are always hungry. Now that the runt has tried the mother's milk he will not go back to the supplemental milk i was giving him. My question is - is there anyway to increase her milk supply? should she go to the vet? I have started giving her vitamins - will that help?
