how do i tame my cockatiel

my cockatiel (Jo-Jo) is very cranky and angry, i have had him for two years and he wont let me pet him play with him hold or touch. he only comes out of his cage when he wants to and wont allow me to touch him if i try to hold my hand out for him to walk on he tries to bit me. how do i make him like me?

You say that he is 6 years old and you have had him for 2 years. Where was he before and do you know anything about his previous home, how he was treated and handled? Do you know if he was ever tame for anyone? Has he ever actually bitten you or does he just seem to try to bite? Do you mind telling me if you are a child, young adult, adult, etc.? It may have a bearing on how I suggest different things you can try. Also please tell me about his diet, where is his cage located in the house, do you have other pets, any small children around? Is his cage covered at night? How much sleep does he get in the evening hours? The more information you can give me, the better I will be able to advise you. Thanks, Patricia
