How old are the babies and can you tell me exactly what the parent birds look like? If you knew whether you have Normal Grays, Lutinos or which mutation, you can just tell me that. Otherwise I need for you to describe their colors and patterns, as best you can. Is the pink around the eye or do you mean the eye color itself?

Okay Susan, thanks for that information. It sounds as if your parent birds may be either Lutinos or Whiteface, going by the description of the chicks. Generally, either of those types will have (as mature birds) eyes that are more red or burgundy as opposed to the dark eyes of the Normal Greys, and some of the other mutations. For right now, it doesn't sound as if you have anything to worry about. Just keep a close eye on the babies and make sure the parents are feeding them properly. As they start to get their eyes open later on, then you will be much more able to determine if this is just the natural eye color for these babies or if they might be a problem. I would not anticipate any problems so long as you know the parent birds came from good healthy, genetically sound breeding stock, as opposed to being pet store birds, and that they are on a good diet enabling them to feed the chicks properly. Unfortunately, with pet store birds, we can't count on much at all. I hope this will relieve your mind, at least for now but if you have any more questions, just let me know. Patricia
