My 10 year old golden retirever began having problems ...
Sent to Pet Experts May 24 03:09 PM

My 10 year old golden retirever began having problems breathing her her nose at night in March. The vet put her on antihistimes which seemed to make her drowsy and help her sleep though the breathing eased some it was not relieved entirely. May 15 she began vomiting a couple of times so the vet put her on mashed potatoes and strained chicken baby foot which seemed to help with vomiting but not breathing/gasping. The last 3 days the breathing through her nose and gasping is now occuring when she gets up and she is vomiting again. Any idea, the vet said it was mites in her nose, then ruled it out, and suggested she be put on Revolution but to wait 2 weeks before applying. So she has no relief from vomiting or breathing. She wouldn't even touch a piece of toast. Any ideas what could be wrong and how I can help her?

With the stuffed up nose she probably cannot smell what you are offering for food and so doesn't want it. You could try warming up food to see if that makes it aromatic enough for her to be interested. You can also see if she can hold down some Nutrical a sticky supplement you can get from the pet supply store.
I would not wait two weeks for more treatment for your dog. I think I'd consider finding someone to do a rhinoscopy of the nasal area or at least start with x-rays.
You may also want to check her teeth as infections in upper teeth can abcess into the nasal area and the bacteria from that can cause vomiting.
I suggest you check this site for a vet who specializes in small animal internal medicine
http://www.acvim.org/Specialist/Search.aspx
This might be a fungal or bacterial infection. It could be a nasal polyp or cancer blocking her breathing and causing the nausea from drainage down the throat.
I think she needs more than a guess and needs an in person expert to diagnose and treat her.
The internal medicine specialists get the tricky cases and would be the best next step for you I think.
Hope this helps you!
