Can you help me with the new 40 baby swordtail fry in my tank???
Sent to Pet Experts April 14 11:50 PM

I have about 40 to 50 baby swordtails in my 10 gallon aquarium in a plastic brreding device. I need help with what to do next? How do I know when she is through having babies? I have other fish in the tank, do I need to get another tank and how do I create a safe condition for the babies?

It sounds like she has had all her babies. Usually in a swordtail you can see if she has any left inside her so look closely.

It would be best to separate them from the other fish preferably with a breeding net found at most pet stores. They need to stay protected because the other fish will eat them.

For more specifics on this CLICK HERE. Best of luck...my Mollies always gave birth right after putting them in the breeder.
